Week 9: Preparing for Final Submission

A: Written communication: Writing a 100 words statement. Natural light Improves the Aesthetic Quality of a Photograph Applying natural light to models improves the aesthetic quality of a photograph. Natural light creates a better quality of natural colour to the space, giving a greater sense of reality and allowing light to be evenly distributed amongst the space. This was strongly backed up by an experiment, through taking photos of a model by using a light source from the sun and a torch. I noticed that the photos using the sun looked much more aesthetically pleasing, allowing for the spaces and shapes of the model to be seen much easier. In conclusion, the experiment proved that natural light improves a models aesthetic quality when taking photos of it.

Week 8: Communicating Materiality and Choosing Materials

At Home Studio Activities This week’s studio activities focus on the visual representation of materials in drawings and in 3D models. This consisted of placing 3 of our chosen models into an environment with different materials through the use of photoshop. Model 1:  Background used:  Finished product: Feedback from Danielah: Try reflect some of the light coming from the snow on the trees onto the roof How I fixed my Model from the feedback: Model 2: Background used: Finished product: Model 3: Finished Product: Fusion 360 Work: I used this material to create a glossy look which placed some of the background image of the plaza onto the model, making it multicoloured.

I used a bright coloured cardboard material to add colour into the space as well as make the figure stand out to emphasise the scale of the room. I took pictures of the figure in many different angles and from different positions to compare the size of the figure to the size of the model and the furniture within it. Applying light the model: I took photos using different lights to show many different aspects of my room. Firstly I put the light source within the room to show what the model looks light at night with lights within the model. Next I placed the model outside the different windows to show how the light affects the space. I noticed tha...

Week 6: Getting Feedback and Improving my Models

Image
Teams Tutorials: This weeks work consisted of a tutorial on Microsoft Teams with my tutor to show her my models and talk about my progress. This tutorial gave me an opportunity to get feedback about my models as well as compare my model with other classmates. At the end of the tutorial, I then used the feedback from Danielah to improve my model.  "Your next step is to improve, add and change elements of your room to make it the ideal room. Be as creative as you want when you do this. You will use the folding and model making techniques that you have learnt in order to alter the elements of your room"  From receiving this feedback, I decided to take the tips I got from the "folding techniques" videos to create my ceiling within my 'ideal room'. I took my inspiration specifically from the "dividing the paper" tutorial (video 1) to create my ceiling. I then also expanded on my model to create an outside area of my room as well as stairs. ...
